Oh ho! So you want to know who we are and what we’re all about. Neat.
Well let’s see… I’m Brian: a 30-something omnivore living with my beloved 20-something girlfriend Abigail just outside of Cleveland, Ohio. I’ve spent most of my life living in the Chicagoland area and, as is almost required by law, have an almost spiritual connection to the same things that everyone else from that area has: Chicago style pizza, hot dogs, and Italian beef sandwiches. None of which prepared me in the slightest for what life would be like living with a vegetarian. Suddenly all those things that kept me alive for so many years are… in a word: taboo. It’s not all bad though; I’ve always been excited to try new things and eat new-to-me foods. As where once a typical Monday would consist of Italian Beef, a marathon of Dexter and a couple of beers has now become some strange concoction, usually involving spinach or avocado, an episode of House and a nice healthy mug of tea before bed. As much as that sounds like complaining it’s really not. Abbie has opened my eyes to a world in which veggies are more than just side dishes. Sure, I knew it existed, but I didn’t honestly know (and wouldn’t have believed if you told me) it would all be so fun to make. Not just fun, but easy. I’m a big big fan of simple comfort food and to be quite honest? Vegetarian food, for the most part, is shockingly easy to prepare and makes me seem like something I’m not: A competent chef.
